The wine industry in Reno has grown in recent years which has created new small business opportunities in the area. Since a majority of wine is exported from Europe, these small businesses could be feeling the impact of new tariffs proposed by the Trump administration.
Wine shop owners and importers are currently dealing with tariffs on their European imports. Back in October of 2019, the current administration imposed a 25% tariff on most European wine, in retaliation for the subsidies Europe provided to aircraft maker Airbus. Since then, Trump's admin has threatened a new tariff that would impose a 100% on french wine and Champagne.
