RENO, Nev. (KOLO)— Nevada students released fingerling trout into the Truckee River Saturday through the Nevada Department of Wildlife's Trout in the Classroom program.
More than 140 schools took part in the program throughout the state. Local schools involved in the program have already released the trout they raised, NDOW said in a statement. So the remaining fingerling trout were released Saturday at the Oxbow Nature Study Area in west Reno at 3100 Dickerson Road. The releases were scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the public were invited. The Oxbow visitor center is open until 5 p.m.
